Born in Zwolle, Jo\u00ebl Bonk (1980) attended the Artez college in Visual Arts, where he left halfway to study in Rotterdam at The Willem de Kooning Academy where he graduated in 2011.<\/p>\n
In his work, Jo\u00ebl is investigating his personal, cultural and human identity. In every piece of work the starting point is his own body (what he calls \u2018the blank canvas\u2019).\u00a0By making anatomical sculptures without skin (\u00e9corch\u00e9) that need to be touched, or\u00a0using his own form, scale and skin Jo\u00ebl tries to examine his own points of view.<\/p>\n
